tmiii is a roman capital typeface inspired by letter carving. it's core foundation is derived from a book by l.c.evetts, which is in turn a description of the inscription on trajan's column.

BPR

Each letter is constructed according to the mathematical proportions detailed in L.C.Evetts book. However, once the guides had been faithfully recreated they were followed using only short straight line segments. This is to imitate the effect of chisling the glyphs into wood using inadequate tools- smooth curves cannot be created and horizontal lines become totally flat as they meet the grain of the wood.

liga

The typeface contains over seventy ligatures. When carving, these are sometimes associated with someone who hasn't measured their space out correctly beforehand, but here it is more of a stylistic decision.
